15th Annual Women's Legacy Fund Luncheon
Thu, Sep 28th
The Women's Legacy Fund will celebrate the 15th Annual Luncheon at the Alex Madonna Expo Center from 12:00 to 1:45pm on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Last year, more than 650 influential women and men attended the event and raised more than $80,000 in donations and pledges to support women and girls in need throughout San Luis Obispo County.
This year, the Women's Legacy Fund will present $40,000 in new grants to local programs which focus on empowering girls in San Luis Obispo County.
Keynote speaker Kamala Lopez is an actress, filmmaker, activist and President of Heroica Films. Ms. Lopez has launched the movement and the film Equal Means Equal to educate Americans about the importance of equal rights for women under federal law. In 2009, Lopez began the ERA Education Project, creating multi-media PSAs and FAQs, social media campaigns, and educational videos, and piloting curriculum and speaking around the country. Equal Means Equal is a labor of love that Lopez embarked on when she realized that women still did not have Constitutional protections in the United States and that, like her, most Americans were unaware of this fact.
Tickets for this event are offered at $50.00, and include your choice of a Mediterranean Sandwich (focaccia bread with turkey breast, romaine lettuce, roasted red peppers and garlic mayonnaise) served with fresh fruit salad, OR a vegetarian Grilled Portabella Mushroom (layered with heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese and a balsamic reduction drizzle with a season vegetable).
